Principal
Brooke Harris

Brooke Harris serves as the principal of Tharptown Elementary School. Prior to this role, she was assistant principal at Tharptown Elementary, taught seventh and eighth grade English Language Arts at Tharptown High School, and spent six years teaching fourth grade at Tharptown Elementary. She also served as the high school cheer sponsor for eight years. Mrs. Harris earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Athens State University and her Master’s in Instructional Leadership from the University of West Alabama. She is currently pursuing her Educational Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership. A proud alumna of Tharptown School, Mrs. Harris values her deep roots in the community. She is married and the parent of four children who currently attend or have graduated from Tharptown School. She considers it a true blessing to serve the school and community she calls home.

Assistant Principal
Talon Thomas

Talon Thomas serves as the Assistant Principal at Tharptown Elementary School and joined the TES community in 2025. He began his career in education in 2012 and brings experience in both teaching and coaching. Talon holds an Associate degree from Northwest Shoals Community College, a Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Alabama, a Master’s degree from Arkansas State University, and an Educational Specialist degree. His background in educational leadership, along with years of experience working with students and athletes, has helped prepare him for his role in supporting both students and teachers. Talon believes that students learn best when they are engaged and having fun. He works to create positive learning environments where students feel supported, confident, and excited about learning. Through interactive lessons, hands-on activities, and meaningful connections to the real world, he encourages students to explore new ideas and take ownership of their learning. A graduate of Colbert Heights High School, Talon has strong ties to the region and has previously coached basketball and football in Franklin County. He appreciates the close-knit and supportive nature of the Tharptown community. Outside of school, Talon enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, playing board games, and watching superhero movies. He and his wife have been married for ten years and have four children - three boys and one girl.
