Principal

Mrs. Molly Bates King

I am excited to serve as principal of Tharptown Elementary School. Prior to becoming principal, I served as assistant principal for Tharptown Elementary School and as assistant principal for Russellville Middle School. During my education career, I taught English language arts and was a school library media specialist. I was the 2013 recipient of the Chiquita Marbury Technology Innovation Award for Middle School awarded by the Alabama State Department of Education, the 2012 recipient of the Distinguished Service Award which is granted by Alabama School Library Association to a person who has shown outstanding leadership in advancing the theory and/or practice of school librarianship, and the 2012 Herman Moore Library And Media Professionals (LAMP) Award for Excellent Service awarded by the Alabama Library EXPO Board. I received my BSED in Secondary and Middle School Language Arts from the University of North Alabama, my MLIS from the University of Alabama, and my Ed.S in Instructional Leadership from the University of North Alabama. I consider it an honor to serve the students, faculty, and community of Tharptown.

Assistant Principal

Mrs. Brooke Harris

I am honored to hold the position of assistant principal at Tharptown Elementary School. Before stepping into this role, I taught seventh and eighth grade English Language Arts for two years at Tharptown High School and spent six years teaching fourth grade at Tharptown Elementary. Additionally, I had the pleasure of being the high school cheer sponsor for eight years. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education from Athens State University and my Master's in Instructional Leadership from the University of West Alabama. Currently, I am pursuing my Educational Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership at the same university. As a proud alumna of Tharptown School, I value my ties to this community. I am married and a parent of four children, all of whom currently attend or have graduated from Tharptown School. It is truly a blessing to be a part of the Tharptown school and community.
