In an effort to improve reading outcomes for students across Alabama, the Alabama Legislature passed the Alabama Literacy Act, which became law on June 10, 2019. This legislation provides guidance and support for schools and educators to strengthen early literacy instruction and ensure that all students develop strong reading skills. The goal of the Alabama Literacy Act is to help every student read at or above grade level by the end of third grade. At Tharptown Elementary, we are committed to supporting student literacy through high-quality instruction, targeted support, and collaboration with families.
